It Is What It Is

Worry and anxiety overtake so many of us daily. Many times, we worry about things that we have absolutely no control over. Though things may be unfair, unjust, cruel, or even hateful, unfortunately at the end of the day, it is, what it is. What does this mean on an individual level? Simply strive to do the best that you can each day. Every day is not going to be perfect and every day will not be the same. Some days you will feel mentally and emotionally depleted and other days you will feel like you can conquer the world. It’s important to go easy on yourself and allow yourself to feel however you need to feel in the moment and from day-to-day. Times are difficult and uncertain, but you can make it through. Train your inner voice to be positive and uplifting. Go easy on yourself. Pat yourself on the back and say well done from time to time. Surround yourself with positive people and those who are where you want to be. Examine your circle of influence. Who are the closest 5 people around you? Are they uplifting peers that can help you grow or are they negative and destructive? Just breathe and figure out what relationships you need to hold onto tightly and which ones you need to let go of. Also, it’s okay to have people in your circle of influence that you don’t actually know. You can choose to read books and quotes by Michelle Obama, Oprah, Warren Buffett, Lori Greiner, or whoever you select. Try watching interviews and learn from the failings and successes of these individuals. One of the best ways to bounce back from tragedy is to stay busy in positive activities. Perhaps you can turn a favorite hobby into a business. Maybe it’s time to start that nonprofit that you’ve been thinking about. Try to read a few books that interest you or plan a trip. It’s important to find and establish coping mechanism to build resiliency. Stress and worry kills! This is something that the medical field has educated the world about for decades.  When you allow stress and worry to consume you, you are chipping away seconds of your life. Though this year has been difficult, and things did not go as planned, you can still choose to make the best of it, breathe, relax, and take it one day at a time.
