A Mother Who Leads By Example

Train a girl in the way she should go. Even when she grows old, she will not depart from it. What greater joy can a mother have than to see her child making steps in a direction that will benefit her now and into the future? Immeasurable joy follows from knowing as a mother that you paved the way. Angie McDonald, author, and certified resilience and grief support coach, along with her 13-year daughter Melody Grace Evans, fellow author of “A Pink Heart for Girls,” make a dynamic duo.

Angie is not only an author and coach but also a podcast host and public speaker. Sadly, she is no stranger to despair and grief. Tragedy struck in 2009 when Angie’s husband, Mark, lost his life. Unexpectedly she faced the challenge of raising 2-year-old Melody and an additional child who was only a few months old at the time.

Rapidly, she was left to not only grieve, but she had to take on the financial responsibility of a single mother. To adjust, she was forced to move back home to New Jersey and find a way to be both mommy and daddy to two young girls. This experience brought about the foundation of the thriving business she currently owns and operates, Wounded2Wonderful Coaching. Wounded2Wondeful Coaching provides grief support, resilience, and transitional life coaching to those in need.

“My mom is so selfless and giving to the point where she loses sleep to make sure everyone around her is doing well. I watched her for as long as I can remember pushing so hard to make our life without my biological Dad seem fulfilling and normal. When she married my Daddy Darien, I could tell she loved him mostly because of how he loved Hannah & I. Now, I’m watching my mother and paying attention to the discipline and confidence in business,” Melody Grace explained when reflecting over her mother’s love and direction.

Melody, though young, walks proudly in her mother’s footsteps. She is passionate, persistent, and focused. As early as the 2nd grade she became an advocate and voice for her peers. It was then that she ran for class president and currently she has put together a series of motivational short stories for her first book, “A Pink Heart for Girls.”

“Melody wants her gift of writing and the love of sharing positive vibes to reach girls way beyond her local school and community,” Angie shared. Melody and Angie are a great example of a businesswoman and a “businessteen” who have taken the L.E.A.P and been blessed bountifully.
